The Communist Party USA (CPUSA) sends our fraternal greetings and congratulations to the Iraqi Communist Party (ICP) in honor of your successful 11th National Congress. This National Congress comes at an important time in Iraq and all members of the CPUSA stand in solidarity with our comrades in the ICP.

Iraq is one of the greatest modern victims of imperialism at the hands of the United States. The United States set up a corrupt and backwards government in the wake of its illegal invasion of Iraq. The ICP stands on the front line in the battle against imperialism, trying to build a movement and a country that fights for a socialist future for the Iraqi people. While the ICP fights the results of United State imperialism in Iraq, we in the CPUSA battle against imperialism from within the imperial core. This shared conflict ties our two parties together as we work side by side.

As the ICP starts a new chapter following the 11th National Congress, we wish congratulations to the ICP’s new central committee. We in the CPUSA hope that this will be an opportunity to deepen the relationship between our two Parties. As fraternal comrades, tied together by history, we can work together to defeat capitalism and build a socialist world for the working class in our countries.
