PUBLIC DECLARATION
The Communist Party of Chile expresses its strong solidarity with the Australian journalist Julian Assange in the face of his imminent extradition to the US by the United Kingdom. He is accused of espionage because WikiLeaks, an agency he founded, denounced and publicized thousands of secret U.S. documents, demonstrating its active interventionism in the world and crimes that have cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of citizens of many countries. The US revenge against the journalist will be equivalent to a death sentence in the prisons of the empire.
We denounce this new attack by the US and the UK on freedom of the press and , demand Julian Assange’s immediate and unconditional freedom. In doing so, we express our agreement with the demands of many voices in the world in defense of the right to information and freedom of expression on a global scale.

El Partido Comunista de Chile expresa su decidida solidaridad con el periodista australiano Julian Assange ante su inminente extradición a EE.UU. por parte del Reino Unido. Es acusado de espionaje porque WikiLeaks, agencia fundada por él, denunció y dio publicidad a miles de documentos secretos de EE.UU., demostrativos de su activo intervencionismo en el mundo y crímenes que han costado la vida a centenares de miles de ciudadanos de muchos países. La venganza de EE.UU. contra el periodista equivaldrá a una condena de muerte en las cárceles del imperio.
Denunciamos este nuevo atentado de EE.UU y el Reino Unido a la libertad de prensa exigiendo su libertad inmediata y sin condiciones. Al hacerlo, manifestamos nuestra coincidencia con las demandas de muchas voces en el mundo en defensa del derecho a la información y la libertad de expresión a escala global
