2022 is the Year of the Tiger on the lunar calendars used by our comrades in China, Korea and Vietnam. CPUSA sent letters of congratulations in honor of this important event.
To the Communist Party of China:
Dear Comrades,
We at the Communist Party USA want to wish you a prosperous and happy lunar new year. The year 2022 is the year of the tiger, which represents bravery and strength. Both of these qualities describe China’s impressive response to COVID-19, led by the CPC. We saw the bravery of first responders and medical personnel combatting the virus. The response demonstrated the strength of the Communist Party and its socialist system.
Despite failed attempts at an anti-Chinese “boycott,” the Beijing Winter Olympics has gone on as planned and will no doubt be successful. The days of humiliating and bullying China are long over. We see the anti-China push in the American corporate mass media for what it is – imperialism – and we salute all 1.4 billion Chinese people for personifying the year of the tiger in standing up for their country in the face of slander, lies, and attempts at starting a second cold war.
We would also like to especially thank and extend our well wishes to our counterparts in the International Department of the CPC, who have done a stellar job hosting international meetings and helping to bring the international communist and worker’s movement closer together.
We look forward to future events. When this virus is defeated, we hope to meet in person.
Comradely,
Alvaro Rodriguez
International Secretary CPUSA
To the Workers Party of Korea:
Dear comrades,
We write today to convey our warmest congratulations to the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Korean people on the occasion of Lunar New Year’s Day. Juche 111 (2022) is a significant and historic year for Korea, as it marks the 110th birth anniversary of Comrade Kim Il Sung and the 80th birth anniversary of Comrade Kim Jong Il. The spirited celebration of this Korean folk holiday is itself a part of the legacy of Comrade Kim Jong Il. At a time when the solar calendar had been prioritized and Lunar New Year’s Day had come to be treated like an ordinary holiday, he stressed the importance of preserving and promoting Korea’s national traditions and advised your people to “celebrate New Year’s Day by the lunar calendar in a big way.”
Over the past few years, the DPRK has made sincere efforts to ease tensions on the Korean peninsula and to sustain the peace process with the U.S. But the DPRK’s goodwill has been met with vicious provocations and constant aggressive maneuvers by U.S. imperialism, which continues to maintain tens of thousands of troops in south Korea. The U.S. has conducted hundreds of joint war drills in Korea since promising to halt them at the 2018 DPRK-U.S. summit in Singapore and continues to threaten the DPRK with all manner of nuclear and conventional weapons. On top of this, the U.S. has slapped heavy sanctions on the DPRK in a cruel attempt to suffocate its economy. These facts lay bare the hostile policy of U.S. imperialism against socialist Korea.
Despite the hardships they have endured through decades of U.S. aggression, the Korean people are single-minded in their commitment to the independence of their motherland and have achieved great victories in their work of socialist construction under the leadership of the Workers’ Party of Korea. The Communist Party USA will always stand in solidarity with the Korean people in their just struggle to defend their country in the face of wanton U.S. aggression and to accomplish the cause of national reunification, the lifelong wish of President Kim Il Sung.
We extend our warmest regards and well-wishes to our comrades in the International Department of the Workers’ Party of Korea, to the whole Korean people and to Comrade Kim Jong Un. We wish you enduring success, prosperity and peace in the momentous year ahead.
Comradely,
Alvaro Rodriguez
International Secretary CPUSA
To the Communist Party of Vietnam:
Dear comrades,
As the Year of the Ox comes to end and we welcome the New Year of the Tiger, Communist Party USA (CPUSA) would like to extend our warmest holiday greetings to you, our fraternal comrades in the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), as well as to the people of Vietnam.
The Year of the Ox was a year of many great successes for the CPV. The CPV continued to lead the war against COVID, showing the world the morality of the socialist system by putting the health and welfare of people above all else. The CPV has also continued to lead Vietnam on a steady path of development, on the path to becoming an upper middle income country by 2030.
This new year also coincides with the 92nd anniversary of the founding of the CPV. This monumental historic event is of great importance and significance to both the people of Vietnam, as well as for the world Communist movement. The CPV continues to be a leader in the international Communist movement and its successes show the world the correctness of the socialist path.
As the year of the Tiger begins, we would like to wish the CPV continuing success. We are confident that this year will see even greater accomplishments by the CPV as Vietnam continues to head forward on the road of building socialism. CPUSA looks forward to a new year of our two parties working together in solidarity, comradeship, and friendship.
Comradely,
Alvaro Rodriguez
