On the important occasion of the Unity Congress of the Workers’ Party of Belgium (PTB-PVDA) the membership of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) offers our congratulations and solidarity to our fraternal comrades. The Unity Congress is a monumental step in the PTB-PVDA’s continuing battle for working class power in their country.

In recent decades PTB-PVDA has shown the correctness of the Marxist-Leninist principle of rooting the Party in the working-class of their country. The PTB-PVDA now speaks for the working class in various Belgian governing bodies, as well as taking a leadership role in unions and grassroots movements across Belgium. As the Worker’s Party of Belgium begins this new chapter and elect a new Party leadership, we know the future of the PTC-PVDA is bright.

Like the CPUSA in the United States, one of the great challenges facing the PTB-PVDA is is the continuing threat of fascism, increased anti-communist suppression propaganda and legal suppression. CPUSA continues to fight against the Trumpian threat and the Republican Party’s continuous attacks on democracy. In Belgium, far right-parties continue to spread xenophobia and right-wing nationalism. In the European Union, proto-fascist governments like the one in Budapest continuously attempt to push anti-Communist laws through the European Union. Through a strong, comradely, fraternal relationship, our two Parties can work in solidarity with each other as we fight the fascist threats in our respective countries.
